How To Care For Your Carpet Steam Cleaner
Caring for your home carpet steam cleaner is obviously one of the biggest keys in getting many years of trouble
free use from it. That said, here's a look at a few quick and simple tips you can use to clean and maintain your
carpet cleaning machine.
The make of your machine will determine what needs to be cleaned and maintained, so we will break it down to the
models for Bissell, as well as for Hoover since these two brands make up the majority of all home carpet extractors
and cleaners.
Bissell Carpet Cleaner Care Tips
One of the first things you want to remember to do after each use is to clean the 2-in-1 water tank. What I mean
by that is to be sure and rinse out all of the dirty water, fuzz and other debris that builds up. There's also a
red filter that you can pop out and wash as well.
Next up is the floor nozzle. You can quickly unscrew the nozzle with a Phillips screwdriver. Wash it off in the
sink and then simply replace it back on the machine. You may find some dirt and loose hair around the end caps
which can be wiped clean in most cases.
In addition, take the time to clean the roller by pulling off carpet fibers, hair and any other debris that has
become attached to the brushes.
Finally, you can easily clean off the upholstery tools by washing them in clean water. Dry everything off and
attach them back into place for storage until the next time you need to clean.
Hoover Carpet Cleaner Care Tips
Like the steps above, you'll want to get started by cleaning out both of the clean and dirty water recovery
tanks. You can either empty out the carpet detergent tank or leave it be if you'll be using the machine again in
the next couple of months.
Next up is the nozzle. Pull out the nozzle from the latches on the bottom side of the machine. Wash them off and
pull off any excess carpet fibers or debris. Reattach them back in place and you're done.
For the SpinScrub brushes, you can simply pull them off and clean each one individually.
The upholstery tools and hose can also be quickly cleaned by putting them under warm running water. Dry them off
and store the machine only after everything is completely dry.
These quick and simple tips alone will eliminate many of the most common problems that others have with their
carpet cleaners becoming clogged and not having suction, or sprayers not wanting to work, etc., and give you years
of additional use from your machine.
