Hoover Max Extract Carpet Cleaner F8100 Review

Easy Assembly

Right out of the box, this Hoover carpet cleaner was designed for quick and easy assembly. The only tool needed is a Phillips screwdriver to use on tightening the nuts and bolts when you slide together the upper handle into the body of the machine. Then you simply snap the tool holder onto the back of the cleaner and position the hose around the carrier. You're done and ready to clean.

Computer Control System

One of the more unique aspects of the Hoover 8100 carpet cleaning machine is the computer control system on the handle. It features controls and indicator lights that tell you when the detergent tank is empty, when the clean water tank is empty, and when the recovery tank is full.

You'll also have a rinse indicator light, wash indicator, cleaning selector dial, a surface selector lever, and the power on/off button. Essentially, all of your controls are right in front of you so that you can do everything from one central location instead of having to move all around the machine in order to do specific tasks. And... you're not having to "guess" as to whether your machine is actually doing what you hope it is. For example, if you are using the rinse setting you'll immediately know by the indicator light that yes, the machine is doing just that.

You have the power of a 12-Amp motor on this cleaner that makes easy work of dirt, grime and stains in all types of carpet and tiled surfaces.

MaxExtract System

Hoover has incorporated it's patented Max Extract technology on this carpet extractor that gives it an incredible ability to thoroughly clean any type of carpet. It features multi-action and multi-directional scrubbing brushes to get out the absolute most amount of dirt from your carpets.

It also utilizes high velocity suction to get up more water, and a heated forced air drying system to leave you with dryer carpets in much less time than other cleaners will.

2 Separate Water Tanks And A Detergent Tank

There are separate tanks for the clean water, dirty water and the carpet cleaning detergent that make things much less messy than having everything located in one combined tank.

The dirty water recovery tank is located in the base of the machine and is very easy to remove. You simply lower the handle, grab the tank handle and lift it out. Then, remover the lid and empty the dirty water. When finished, you just set it back in place on the machine.

The separate detergent tank is located on top of the clean water tank. To remove it you just pull it away from the handle, fill it with Hoover carpet detergent, and then slide it back in place. (Click Here to go to our Hoover Carpet Solution Review)

Do the same with the clean water tank; pull it out and fill it with hot tap water, and then slide it back in place. (Never boil or microwave the water or you could damage the machine.) When you slide it back in place you slide it until you hear it make a loud "click". That assures you that it is fully engaged and ready for use.

Dual Multi-Directional SpinScrub Brushes

Another one of Hoover's features with this machine is what they term their Dual Scrub technology. What this is all about is that they combine their unique powered SpinScrub brushes into multi-directional action for an even greater cleaning ability. They surround the carpet fibers and get out the dirt from all angles. I have to admit that it works quite well and is much more powerful than carpet cleaners with the single brush rollers. On another note, there is a brush shut off that is handy in instances where you simply want to use it to clean up a liquid spill on your kitchen floor, etc.

High Velocity Suction

The suction capability with the Hoover F8100 is enhanced through its high velocity suction technology. This gives the machine added power in getting up leftover water out of the carpet, unlike some units that leave your carpets far too wet afterwards.

Spot Cleaning Functions

There are 2 different modes you can select from for doing any type of spot cleaning you need to do. You'll find a 'stream setting' that provides a steady stream of cleaning solution directly on a spot or stain in your carpet that you want cleaned. Next, they have a 'spray setting' that provides a steady spray of cleaning detergent for those high traffic areas that need an added boost of cleaner in order to get them looking fresh again.

Spill Mode

The convenient 'spill mode' on this cleaner is another nifty little feature that can be used on those occasional kitchen spills that need suction only to get picked up. It's almost like having a mini "wet vac" if you will.
 
Brush Edge Cleaning

The design of this Hoover carpet cleaning machine is one that allows you to clean right up against the baseboard trim and walls without the fear of damaging them. The rubber edges prevent scratching or marring the surfaces.
 
Separate Carpet/Rug Cleaning Settings

You'll find controls that allow you to set the machine for use in normal cleaning of your carpets, or you can set it for a more delicate action in cleaning area rugs that do not require heavy duty cleaning action.

Auto Rinse System

The auto rinse feature on this cleaner is a cool added benefit that we really like. This patented feature will provide you with a rinse only cleaning to use in getting up any detergent residue, leaving you with fresh and very clean carpets. With other machines you have to either remove the detergent tank, or they simply do not have any way of using a rinse only spray.

Direct Force Heated Drying

Not only do you get the advantage of having high velocity suction in getting up the water and detergent, but you also get heated direct forced air drying to aid in drying the carpet much quicker than other models. It is not a huge benefit, but it does provide some extra help in reducing the drying times.

30 Foot Power Cord & 8 Foot Hose 

There is a 30 foot power cord with the Hoover F8100, as well as an 8 foot hose for use with the included cleaning attachments. That's an ideal size for most homes and allows you to clean multiple rooms without having to unplug the cord and find a new outlet.

The 8 foot stretchable hose is also a nice size that lets you clean stairs, furniture and auto interiors without getting in the way or being too short.

On Board Tool Caddy And Cleaning Tools

It gives you peace of mind in knowing that if something goes wrong in the next six years, you don't have to worry about it. I have to hand it to Hoover for standing behind their platinum carpet cleaner with this type of warranty.
